Boston have partnered with ZutaCore to take server cooling to the next level. Boston “insert server model” is using ZutaCore HyperCool - direct-on-chip, waterless, evaporative 2-phase liquid cooling. This technology has many benefits and allows for a more stable CPU core stable frequencies under load. The effect is an increase in CPU performance but simultaneously a lower overall server power consumption. It improves energy efficiency and makes high-performance computing possible in environments limited by air cooling or with high ambient temperature.
Boston partnered with Bytesnet, a Netherlands-based company in an effort to re-use reidual heat from data-centres. This collaboration provides long-term reliable, affordable and sustainable heat solutions in the Groningen district, as part of the WarmteStad initiative. Redirecting exess heat is done by using immersion cooling, provided by Asperitas, which has the cooling capacity of 60KW. The dyelectric fluid is warmed up by the systems, that heat is then taken elsewhere to be use. The added benefit Asperitas brought was the fact that the solution used convetion to circulate the cooling fluid, which means that the lack of pumps lowered the total cost of ownership.
